Kinship’s vision is that all children in kinship care get the support they need, wherever they live, whatever their legal order. Systems which determine support for children whose parents are unable to raise them exclude children in kinship care and their carers. For children who have experienced trauma, stability and consistent care is vital, so their focus is on improving support for kinship carers to meet their emotional, practical and financial needs.

They raise awareness, influence policy and practice at local and national level, deliver a national advice service and work on the ground to deliver tailored and evidence-based programmes, including one-to-one support, family activities and peer support. They also have experience in working with kinship carers to use the media and lobby MPs to raise awareness and push for change, as well as expertise in influencing policy.
